Kate Cosyns – Board President
With over a decade of experience in the financial services industry, Kate has developed expertise in the areas of digital transformation and strategic, cross-functional implementations. She also has experience in the areas of product development and multi-cultural marketing. She has a passion for business strategy at the intersection of people and technology.
Currently, she is designing and implementing a data quality operational model for business services within C&IS at Northern Trust in Chicago. She attributes her unique, integrative approach to managing corporate initiatives to her background in the social sciences, which cultivated her understanding of people and issues uncommon in more narrowly focused disciplines. Her professional interests include digital transformation, emerging technologies, change management, and personality-based management practices.
Kate graduated from MAPSS in 2011. Her thesis was a continuation of her undergraduate thesis research on selective acculturation practices and the significance of physical and spiritual borders in the Mexican immigrant community of Illinois. She also studied the Spanish language for 12 years. Kate is currently serving as President of the MAPSS Alumni Board at the University of Chicago, and also volunteers with United Way and Habitat for Humanity –Chicago. She holds a B.A. from Lake Forest College in Sociology/ Anthropology and Politics, an M.A. in Social Science from the University of Chicago, and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Information Technology from Northwestern University.
Due to her perpetually curious nature, when she’s not working or studying, she is teaching herself how to play the ukulele, attempting to learn new languages via DuoLingo, or planning her next travel adventure.
