Mark Lush – Career & Networking Committee Chair 

Mark Lush is Manager, Behavioral Scientist, and co-founder of the Behavioral and Economic Analysis and Decision-Making (BEAD) program area at NORC at the University of Chicago. At NORC, Mark manages academic, foundation and commercial research focused on economic decision-making and consumer behavior.He is engaged with several projects, including a five-year contract with the Securities and Exchange Commission to conduct investor protection research, including qualitative interviewing and questionnaire design, and NORC’s ongoing collaboration with JUST Capital and Forbes on the JUST 100: America’s Best Corporate Citizens, where the team has conducted focus groups with over 300 people in 18 locations.Prior to NORC, Mark consulted with Allstate’s Data, Discovery, and Decision Sciences (D3) Department where he appliedbehavioral science to develop behavioral hypotheses, understand customer insights, influence change, and drive decision-making.He’s conducted UX research across a variety of industries including medical devices, packaged goods, websites, and financial services. In addition, Mark has spent over 10years in Australia’s financial services industry working as a financial advisor. At MAPSS, Mark focused on consumer financial decision-making and conducted an original experiment investigating how users interpret suggested credit card payments. Mark received his B.A. in Anthropology from Oberlin College. He is a co-organizer of the Chicago chapter of Action-Design Network, a non-profit whose purpose is to promote the use of behavioral economics and psychology in policy and product design.He has been a member of the Career & Networking Committee for two years. Mark lives in Ravenswood where he enjoys spending time with his dog, cooking, and travelling as often as possible.
