Megan Machamer – Membership & Outreach Committee Chair 

Megan Machamer is a Senior UX research specialist and ethnographer with 9 years of social science research experience in both professional and academic contexts. She is a highly dedicated applied anthropologist who is enthusiastic about culture and technology, and specializes in: research design, discovery, ethnography, and international research.

Megan has a strong background in social science, cultural anthropology, and social psychology, which she brings into UX research. She is skilled in several research methodologies including: contextual research, ethnography, individual interviewing, focus groups, journey mapping, and concept exploration, and truly believes context and environment are key in research, often combining mixed methods approachesto drive actionable recommendations to her clients.

Academically, she is a MAPSS alum (2016 cohort), and holds a Masters in Social Science from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of California San Diego, as well as an Associates of Arts in Math and Science with special emphasis in Psychology from MiraCosta College. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the social sciences at DePaul University since September of 2016.
